In Seoul, South Korea, two notable incidents that occurred in Ga-hwae district(Gahoe-dong): one was the case of a disabled man, Mr. Ha, vanishing from a hospital, according to a newspaper article dated August 10, 1967; the other, reported on November 9, 1971, involved a brazen thief who broke into the houses of Congressmen and other well-known people. The performance piece A South Korean Citizen's Tale, which took place on May 13, 2011 in the alleys of Ga-hwae district, was based on the assumption that the vanished Mr. Ha was the same person as the burglar, calling him “X.” The performance consists of overlapping recitation and narration which are intended to comment on the ironies of contemporary South Korea.
남한(南韓)의 서울 가회동을 중심으로 발생했던 사건사고 중. 1967년 8월 10일 신문기사에서 거동하기 힘든 인물 하씨가 병원에서 불현듯 사라진 사건과 1971년 11월 9일자 신문기사 내용 중 어느 대범한 도둑이 당시 국회의원 등 유명인사의 집을 도둑질하는 사건이 있었다. 2011년 5월 13일 치러진 퍼포먼스 A South Korean Citizen's Tale: Gahoe-dong(음유시가_가회동)은 과거 두 사건 속, 사라진 하씨와 신출 귀몰하는 도둑을 가상의 동일인물 'X'로 등장시켜, 가회동 골목에서 행해진 퍼포먼스이다. 기타 선율에 맞춰 이 미스테리한 사건의 이야기를 나레이션으로 들려주었고 퍼포먼스 과정은 SNS와 웹에 생중계 되었다.
